Olympics Photoshop Contest Entry

Written by Brian Monahan on August 24, 2008 – 11:06 am -

I found this Photoshop contest to create a useless electronic addition to the Olympics.

I could not resist.

Here is my entry.  For contest details click here.

Blogging is a Bi@tch

Written by Brian Monahan on August 20, 2008 – 9:50 pm -

I have been blogging consistantly now for nearly 3 months.

Even consistantly that means less than 7 posts per week or one a day.

I have been noticing at minimum I have been taking 2 hours to write a very short post and 4-6 hours to writer longer ones.

Its very misleading.

Lots of judgement and rewrites get in the way.  FYI, I am not a perfectionist either.

Blog at your own risk, it’s addictive and requires long hours.

I am having a baby in 2 months, what am I thinking?

Added some rollover menus at Expert in the Rough

Written by Brian Monahan on August 16, 2008 – 7:42 pm -

Coachbriany is my personal site but I use the same Wordpress Template as my Expert in the Rough blog.

I do that on purpose.

One it’s easier to learn just one template and modify it.

Second I can test new features before I launch it on my feature blog.

I have my new rollover navigation installed over at Expert in the Rough.

Check out the categories and such on the top bar. (Not here but there)

Twitter for the Brain

Written by Brian Monahan on August 10, 2008 – 8:00 am -

Wouldn’t be nice if people could follow your thought’s as easily as you can Twitter.

I mean like  a direct feed to the brain.  Having a Twitter account might be a symptom of “Narcissism”

Do you follow?

Advice for Suburban Developers!

Written by Brian Monahan on August 10, 2008 – 7:54 am -

Get creative!

Don’t name the streets in your McMansion villages all the same name.

Cherry Creek Lane of of Cherry Creek Trail off of Cherry Creek Court just past the stop sign at Cherry Creek Boulevard.

I guess if all the house look alike why have different street names.

I done with this rant.  I am going to do something original today, I am heading to Starbucks.

Feedback is Golden

Written by Brian Monahan on August 2, 2008 – 8:39 am -

I have been blogging consistantly for 3 months on my Expert in the Rough blog.

Purposely, I have not shared it with much of my network.  My goal was to have 30 posts before I advertise.  I know in the past when I launch products or ideas, if they are not fully developed I get a quick spike of interest and people move on.

Recently I have had the opportunity to join a private online forum and I have been recieving feedback on my writing.  I did not know I was starving for some feedback.  It’s hard to write conversationally for 3 months with nobody on the recieving end.  The cool thing is it has made me a better writer, and I feel more committed since I have had to stay focused, without the feedback.

Take a peak.  www.expertintherough.com I don’t bite.

FYI, Coachbriany.com, where you are now is my personal blog.  I will be writing more random thoughts and sharing more personal details on this blog.  Expert in the Rough is my featured blog.

Do you think he is talking about Cuil?

Written by Brian Monahan on July 28, 2008 – 7:27 pm -

Seth Godin, posted today about Icons like Marilyn Monroe, Jackson Pollock and Mona Lisa being unbroken.

If its not broke don’t fix it, when seeking to create an icon; seek to build a new one versus replace an existing icon which is still working.

With less than 5 minutes on Cuil.com a new search competitor for Google, I am wondering if it is actually the subject of his post.

Angry Customers Tell 3000

Written by Brian Monahan on July 27, 2008 – 6:25 pm -

That’s a B*&ch!

But it’s the truth.  I am currently reading the book “Satisfied Customers Tell 3 Friends, Angry Customers Tell 3000″ by Pete Blackshaw.  I had the opportunity to see him speak at a release for another product, but I can tell you he is on to something.

Since I am focusing on positive things for the next 21 days.  Tell me about your good consumer experiences.

Mine is seeing the movie “Wall-E”,” I highly recommend it.
